Shelly Garrett

Shelly Garrett is a mixed media artist and art therapist based in Sonoma County, California. Drawing from over 15 years of experience in mental health art therapy, her work explores themes of identity, resilience, and emotional transformation. As a Deaf artist, Shelly’s practice is deeply informed by her lived experience navigating a hearing world using art as both a personal language and a tool for connection

Her layered collages and textured surfaces blend cut paper, found materials, and intuitive mark-making, offering a visual language that is both visceral and grounding. Each piece is a meditative ritual, inviting viewers to witness the emotional weather of inner and outer landscapes. Shelly’s work has its roots in therapeutic process, yet stands boldly as an invitation to feel, to pause, and to reflect.
